Vistapack 2.6 Released

Postby Damian666 on 29 Oct 2007, 10:03

Vistapack 2.6

The new version has arrived!!

Description:
The Vistapack is made to transform your old and boring Windows 2000 & XP rig in a modern looking and feeling OS.

Safety:
It takes the files from the host, backs it up, modifies a sample and puts the modified file back in the system.
This ensures that you are using the latest files so no need for alerts like "Now I am using an old file, what if its updated by Microsoft? Then i will be open for attack..."

Nope, no need to worry. You keep the updated file.

The pack uses ResHacker to change icons, bitmaps and some dialogs, to make it look like the new Windows Vista!

Its rather safe in my opinion, but of course there are some risks when you modify system files.

This is at your own risk!!!

But no need to worry, there are few bugs that cause your pc not to boot or something.
Personally i did not had that happening here.
Of course, when you don't like it, you can uninstall the pack like any other software.

Send me the bugs you find or some remarks, just let me know.

greets damian666

I am using this pack (testing) on Windows XP so you can expect a detailed recension when I find some time to write it.
What can I say: Lots of great stuff, lots of stuff that annoy :D

Well it is not about satisfying it is the gap which your pack creates... I mean, you have some great resources which I haven't seen in some of the most popular Vista packs like VTP7 etc..
But, there are some things that are non-oobistic there like that MSFN icon in start button, MSFN run dialog, etc...

Nvm it will get fixed till v2 I hope...

It is nice... the promotion thing and everything.. But I am really not for that kind of promotion...

Keep it pure, and oobistic. That is what I think...

Hmm, one point harms me if i would "Vize" my XP: It's a MediaCenter Edition. That should be supported. How we can do this? Should i file here what is needed to be modified?

I could give .rc of the .exe's and .dll's that are additional, of course also with screenshots via XPize (that does stream MCE design a bit so its a few nicer) within...
I'm futuring programming right now!

Yo damian! I wonder if you would like to use one skin I made for True Transparency, maybe in future.

Windows Aero for TT

The skin is Windows Aero and it is made from the original resources. Just look at the screenshot maybe you'll like it.
